Convergence News

05/15/06: STG (Star Trek Gamers) has offered to host Convergence!. They are setting us up with a section for fan created mods, as well as moderated chat via their message boards. Thanks to the folks at Star Trek Gamers for their awesome support!

05/01/06: Some New shots were posted last week on the screenshots page.

04/09/06: Work is progressing nicely on Worf's last actual gameplay level, and is just about completed. New shots of which are available on the screenshots page. Left to be done: Opening cinematic level, ending cinematic level, some custom dialogue work, and then final testing, and then release!.

02/09/06: After a long interruption, work has resumed. We will update with a new release date and new screens shorty. Targeting Early March at this time for release of the full mod. - E. Reuter

Here are a couple shots from Worf's final level:

OLDER NEWS ITEMS:

07/05/05: 16 Screenshots of all new level content added to the ScreenShots page.

06/22/05: Apologies for the lack of updates. We have completed 2 new levels, and are now working on the final levels for all 3 characters. Kira's final map is well underway, leaving Worf and Sisko's to complete. We have now been able to implement our own dialogue for some NPC characters. Additionally, Ken "DataCable" Quick has figured out the Phenomic data structures, and will be able to allow our new dialogue to have corresponding lip-sync animations for the HUD displays of the characters, and in direct view within the game. I'll try to post some screenshots of some of the newer areas in the next few days.

04/24/05: Added STGU Interview with Eric Reuter, you can read it here.

04/14/05: Convergence gets news coverage at TrekToday.com!. The original article can be found here. Also, the full text of the article can be found here, reproduced with the permission of the author.

03/20/05: Work has begun on Worf's Level 4. New Screenshots posted on Screenshots Page.

02/28/05: Created a screenshots page to take some load off of this page, which was getting much too large. Please goto the Convergence Screenshots page to view screenshots. Also, moved the "What is Convergence" Q and A to it's own page.

02/08/05: We've decided to attempt to add custom, new dialogue for NPC characters to help provide more story backround and information, and to enhance the overall experience. Ken "DataCable" Quick and Lewis "Dyre Straits" Turner are heading up the effort to record the new voices, implement the text files to match, and to insert into the levels at the appropriate places and times. We've also settled on expanding Convergence to 18-20 individual levels for the sake of the story and for longer, more interesting gameplay. We will not be attempting to forecast a completion date, just to say we are working steadily toward finishing. There are now 2 more levels completed (for Sisko), bringing the total done to 11. Please see the thumbnails below for some new action shots from Sisko's new missions..

01/07/05: A huge "Thank You" to Pete "QAPete" Kemmerer and the folks at BeyondUnreal for the news item and links for the Convergence 3-Level Demo!. Awesome!

01/05/05: Playable Demo self extracting setup file and .zip file now also includes fix for problems with saved games. A separate file for those who have problems, to avoid donloading the whole thing again, is available here: Convergence_u.zip This file should be extracted to the DS9TheFallen\system directory.

01/05/05: - A Zip format file for the Convergence 3-Level Demo is now available for users who require it. See above.

01/02/05: - A completely playable 3-Level Demo of Convergence is now available. See announcement above. This demo contains each of the characters' first level of play for Convergence. Although much of the areas they explore overlap, there are unique areas to discover and play for each character, and they all have unique mission objectives. Some interesting things: Kira now has an ES suit to go with Worf and Sisko, and they are all wearing these suits on SRIII instead of their Federation-issue uniforms. There are beam-down areas you can locate and use to request supplies,, more interactive dialogue, and you can hail various members of the Defiant crew throughout the mission. There are all-new cinematic sequences, as well as very intense action sequences. The demo has a much more standard self-extracting executable and setup program, and will install all of the needed files for you, as well as compile the custom Audio/Dialogue files required to make things work properly with the new maps.

11/17/04 - A new movie of Convergence gameplay will be coming in the next couple weeks. Keep a lookout for information here, as well as at www.stgu.com and gaming.trekpulse.com
